Welcome to Now?
So let's talk about the link that was in episode two of T.H.I.S.
welcometonow.org
what is this? what is the point?
Ricky Lax is on there under testimonials but it seems pretty facetious. And it's all really vague. I'm lead to believe it's all some elaborate joke...
All the resources and "Life Suggestions" say very vague and general things like "get a job" or "listen to music."
The links page has really strange links- the tree octopus? talking to a fake baboon? myspace?
What is going on?

Re: Welcome to Now?
A very very elaborate joke indeed. More than likely the plan is to make these websites go viral and they'd lead people who research enough back to Tally Hall.
BTW - it doesn't just end with welcometonow.org.......
*cue scary music stinger*
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNN!

Re: Welcome to Now?
What about in the guest book where there's other people that are like "OMG Welcome to Now has sent care packages to Nepal" and then "But haven't you heard about the terrible other things they've done there?"
I mean this is really elaborate...
Maybe it's an ARG type thing.
I remember having a link to welcometonow.org earlier (i think i still have it bookmarked at home) but you needed a password.

Re: Welcome to Now?
It is incredibly elaborate, but... what will come of it. I mean, by itself, it is a believable website, albeit a silly one, and it really does seem almost real, but it isn't.
What's....the joke?

Re: Welcome to Now?
Look at the pamphlet under "Resources." On the very bottom there's a quote from Andrew (3:1)... I don't think that exists.
Sorry if this is getting old but I'm very intrigued by this!

Re: Welcome to Now?
No, its safe to say Tally Hall is behind this. For one thing, most of the "spokespeople" listed in the credits of the episode went to Michigan, and are friends of the band (Thanks facebook, you make being creepy so much easier)
Secondly, apart from this website, there is no mention of this foundation anywhere else on the internet, even though the website claims its supporters include "7 former presidents, the Pope, 23 Senators, 154 Pulitzer Prize winners, 19 Olympians, thousands of individuals"
Next piece of evidence: In one of the testimonials, Jeremy Sr. claims he found the website using the program "stumbleupon", which actually is a fantastic firefox addon, I highly recommend checking it out (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/138), once you do, you'll procrastinate on everything, and never know what you did without it. BUT, the problem is that stumbleupon did not have a record of welcometonow.org
So its safe to say this is fake. Also: just look at it, its incredibly silly!
(I investigated welcometonow for like, half an hour last night, I don't want you guys thinking I'm crazy or anything, I just was curious about it)

Re: Welcome to Now?
i asked people on yahoo answers who that celebrity woman is in the "contributors" section in the bottom right of the "about page" but no one has figured it out yet. anyone know?
i also sent an email to the address and am considering the snail mail too... but maybe we should wait till next week to see if there's anything else in the next episode about it?
also, stumbleupon is a wondrous, wondrous thing.

Which is exactly what an ARG is all about...
But I still think we should wait for more info before we start sending/visiting/etc
(Also I checked Google Maps street view and it's nothing interesting.)

Oliver found it and informed me, like.... musta been a year ago or so.olwhatshername wrote:how did you know about it before it went live?
It wasn't really put together back then and there was no telling what it would be or why. Also, it was shortly thereafter locked up tight. That Olly's a |33+ h4x0rz.
